New Jersey runs plumbing licensing through a statewide system managed by the State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers, under the Division of Consumer Affairs. A Master Plumber license requires passing trade, business and law, and practical exams, a genuinely different structure than the municipal-only licensing systems used in some other states.

Union Township itself has a real history worth knowing if you're new to the area: settled in 1749 as Connecticut Farms and incorporated as its own municipality in 1808, it was the site of the Battle of Connecticut Farms on June 7, 1780, part of the same British campaign that included the Battle of Springfield days later. Kean University, founded in 1855 and relocated to Union in 1958, anchors the township with close to 13,900 students.
